My top study tips / things that help me prep for exams!
Hey everyone! My name is Jenna and I am the VP of Marketing! Today I wanted to talk about some of my top study tips that help me stay organized and on top of all of my classes!
The first thing I do at the start of each week is make a google doc with all of the things I have to complete in that given week (this is my holy grail to staying on top of everything!). I go through UR Courses and check the syllabus of each class and the readings, assignments, quizzes, etc that are coming up and I add them to my google doc. My google doc is organized into three sections: a general section for miscellaneous tasks like answering certain emails or applying for scholarships; sections for each of my classes; and a section for extracurricular items I need to complete for the clubs I am in. If new tasks pop up throughout the week I add them into the doc and I remove them from the doc once they are complete.
Next, I try to separate my “work” as much as I can from my personal life. I typically try to block 2-3 hour time periods throughout my day that are my “productive times.’ Before I start my work, I fnd a location I know are free from distractions and that I can actually focus in. For me, this is either the library, Utopia Cafe, or Starbucks! Next, before I dive into my tasks, I set up all of the things I need. This includes making sure I have my water bottle, headphones, a snack, coffee, laptop charger, notebook, and pens. Since a big to do list can be overwhelming, I select a few items I would like to accomplish during this time and physically write it out on a piece of paper in front of me. Crossing things off the physical list makes me feel like I’ve accomplished so much!
When life gets crazy busy, the one thing that helps me stay on time and on top of everything is google calendar. I suggest putting all of your due dates, midterms, finals, appointments, and even class times into your calendar - it is going to help you so much in the long run (and you won’t run the risk of double booking yourself!)
My last study tip is to put your own wellness first. You can’t expect yourself to give 100% to your studies if you aren’t feeling 100%!. This means leaving time for self care and doing things that make you happy! Some of my favorites are exercise, going for walks, and reading a book!

Emerging Technological Trends in Marketing
Hey everyone my name is Nathan! and today I am going to show you some emerging technological trends and how they impact businesses of any size. You will very likely work with these in the future, and getting a jump on how they work now, can benefit you when you begin your career. The first trend I am going to mention is the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning. These technologies are being used to analyze consumer data and provide personalized experiences. For example, AI-powered chatbots can be used to assist customers in real-time and provide them with personalized product recommendations based on their browsing history.
Another emerging trend is the use of augmented reality and virtual reality in marketing. These technologies allow businesses to provide an immersive and interactive experience for their customers. Augmented reality allows customers to try on products virtually, such as makeup or clothing, before making a purchase. Virtual reality, on the other hand, can be used to take customers on a virtual tour of a product or service, such as a vacation destination or a car. This provides a new level of engagement and allows customers to make informed decisions based on a more complete understanding of the product or service being offered.
Finally, there is a growing trend towards the use of blockchain technology in marketing and business. Blockchain provides a secure and transparent ledger for transactions, making it an ideal technology for use in areas such as supply chain management, digital advertising, and loyalty programs. For example, blockchain can be used to track the authenticity and origin of products, so that business are protected from counterfeit goods. Looking at these three examples, we can see how important it is to utilize these technologies for the development and growth of your business. Thanks for listening!

What is the importance of getting involved?
Welcome to our new website! Looks like I’m the lucky one who was voluntold to write the first blog post! Hello, I’m Jamie- I’m the social media manager for our Business Student Society social media platforms. I’m in fourth year business and have been on the BSS & JDC West for three years. Participating in these programs is my favorite part of undergrad, and really make my university experience. I’m going to discuss the importance of getting involved and taking advantage of the opportunities joining student-lead organizations provide. Taking the initiative to become a leader in a club is incredibly beneficial for your future. In additional to the perks of the building a resume and gaining new friends, it’s the experience you’ll take away that is most important. Nothing will prepare you for a future career in business more than joining a team will. You may not utilize every OM formula, or remember every accounting strategy you’ve learned, but believe me when I say that the memories you make with your team are something you’ll carry for life.
The faculty offers a diverse selection of clubs including JDC West, UR Investing, Hill Marketing Association (HMA), Enactus, Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) & Hill BSS. There’s a role for everyone AND you get the opportunity to work close with your professors. If you want to hone your professional skills and increase your personal development, this is your chance.
