TRMC 2012 - Ross Pratt

In March 2012, I attended the Ted Rogers Management Conference in Toronto, Ontario as a delegate for the University of Regina, Paul J. Hill School of Business. The event took place from March 8th to 10th, filled with 3 days of events for the delegates in attendance. The TRMC event theme was “What’s your ID?” The accommodation for attendees was provided by the Marriott Hotel in downtown Toronto walking distance to the Ryerson University, School of Management.

For 3 days, TRMC had guest speakers that were very inspirational and explained their “inner drive.” One thing that stuck out in my mind is the success of business minded people and how they mentioned where the “inner drive” comes from and that’s “Passion and Purpose.” In business, we are taught the 3 P’s (price, place and promotion), but with a guest speaker at the conference, he mentioned it is more than that… you also need passion and purpose.

On the third and final day, the delegates were involved in a case competition and then a Gala to end the event. This day was very well enjoyable and motivating to think about our “inner drive” and involve our own passion and purpose in our quest in the business and corporate worlds as we continue to progress into our careers in the near future. The evening Gala was filled with speakers that are in positions in their careers to continue to pass onto the young, future business students an opportunity to expand and use their passion to get wherever they dream of becoming and to follow those dreams.
